Get Outside Your Head-space

Talking to a friend, loved one or trusted coach or advisor is the best approach, but even if you don’t have a coach on speed dial you have options. Journaling, recording yourself as you work through your thoughts or even talking to your best four-legged friend about what’s on your mind can be a great approach to stop that pesky negative chatter your mind unconsciously throws at you.

Turn that Frown Upside Down

Science has proved that when you smile chemicals get released in your brain that naturally boost your mood. Also, people are reciprocally prone to respond to your smile with a smile. So, next time when you’re feeling a lack of self-confidence, instead of keeping your head down when you’re walking to your daily destination try this out. I wouldn’t be surprised if suddenly you’re looking around at smiling faces.

State the Positive Inverse

Every time a negative thought bubbles to the surface, consciously tell yourself the opposite. Actively challenging yourself to do this will improve your ability to quickly and easily overcome negative self-talk. As an added bonus, if you practice this enough, specific negative thoughts can get written over with positive affirmations entirely!

Be Kind to Yourself

This one sounds a little silly until you try it! Setup an automatic text message to yourself on a reoccurring basis, ideally daily. Make sure you choose a message that will have maximum impact on your self-confidence. Try something like “I am strong, resilient and capable of accomplishing any goal I set and overcoming any challenge I face.” You’ll get busy with your day, forget you set this up and when you read your self-loving text it will instantly improve your mood.

Give Yourself Support

One of the best ways to boost your self-confidence quickly and permanently is to work with a coach to create healthy, positive self-talk and a personalized plan to strength your sense of security and personal trust.
Going through these steps will dramatically improve your own inner monologue. Even applying one or two will greatly help. Try to reach out to family and friends to help you reinforce your new arsenal of weapons against bad vibes. Having an accountability partner has been proved to make new habits stick. And if you can afford the time and resources to hire a professional - do it! Think of it as a spa day for your inner self.
